Oakley has officially launched its AI-powered eyewear lineup, Oakley Meta, in Japan on May 21. Developed in collaboration with Meta, the collection includes two models: the sport-focused Oakley Meta Vanguard and the lifestyle-oriented Oakley Meta HSTN.
Combining Oakley’s performance-driven design philosophy with Meta’s AI technology, both models feature hands-free photo and video capture, open-ear audio, and access to Meta AI, allowing users to receive real-time information and insights through voice commands.
The integrated AI assistant enables athletes and everyday users alike to interact with the glasses naturally, whether controlling features, listening to content, or requesting performance-related insights during training.
Oakley Meta Vanguard: Built for Performance
Designed specifically for sports, the Oakley Meta Vanguard combines advanced performance features with immersive technology. Its shield-style lens and frame are engineered for comfort during high-intensity movement and fit naturally beneath helmets.
At the center of the frame sits a 12MP camera with a 122-degree ultra-wide field of view, capturing dynamic first-person footage. The glasses can also connect with Garmin and Strava, enabling access to real-time training data while on the move.
Additional features include open-ear speakers engineered to reduce wind noise at speeds of up to approximately 48 km/h, making them suitable for activities such as running and cycling. With an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and up to nine hours of battery life, the Vanguard is built to withstand demanding conditions.

Oakley Meta HSTN: AI Eyewear for Everyday Use
The Oakley Meta HSTN takes a more lifestyle-oriented approach, blending smart technology with a design suitable for everyday wear as well as light sports such as golf and running.
The model features a 12MP camera capable of recording 3K video with a 100-degree field of view, integrated open-ear speakers, IPX4 water resistance, and up to eight hours of battery life.
Users can also customize the eyewear with prescription lenses, Oakley’s Prizm™ lenses, Transitions® GEN S lenses, or clear lens options, allowing the glasses to adapt to a variety of lifestyles and activities.
